Why is Royse City ISD rezoning?

  • Growth. Student enrollment growth is trending above 6% year-to-year in Royse City ISD. This adds up to hundreds of new students moving into our schools. In 2013, Royse City ISD was close to 5,000 students. Currently, our schools are home to more than 6,500 students and we are anticipated to enroll 10,000 total students by 2028. In May of 2018, the community approved a bond referendum that allowed for the construction of a new middle school in Fate, Texas. Now called Bobby Summers Middle School, the campus will become our second middle school and will serve students grades 6-8. This creates the need for two middle school boundary zones for the first time in district history. At the same time, the district's two intermediate schools (Herndon and Cherry) will transition to elementary schools. This creates the need for six elementary boundary zones. Three elementary schools will feed into each middle school in a feeder pattern.

The drafted boundary maps will be posted on September 27.
