Anita M. Scott

  • Anita M. Scott was born just south of Nevada, Texas on August 20, 1916, and graduated from Nevada High School in 1932 at the tender age 15, having skipped the second and fourth grades. Anita moved to Waco, Texas to further her education at Baylor University and received her Bachelor’s in Education on May 30, 1938.

In the fall of 1938, Mrs. Scott returned home to accept her first teaching assignment at Royse City Elementary School. Mrs. Scott taught until 1947, when she took a break from teaching to spend time with her family. Anxious to return to teaching Mrs. Scott accepted an opening Royse City Elementary in October 1955. While teaching and raising a family, Anita continued her own education at East Texas State Teachers College, earning her Masters of Elementary Education on May 24, 1959.

Mrs. Scott tendered her resignation on May 31, 1979. Having taught all of her 34-years at Royse City ISD, Mrs. Scott’s enthusiasm for teaching touched the lives of many, many Royse City boys and girls.

We remember and honor Anita Scott for her years of dedication in educating the children of Royse City ISD.
