ROYSE CITY ISD DEEDS PARCEL OF LAND TO NEW HOPE CHURCH

At a regular school board meeting on Monday, September 13, 2021, the Royse City ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the deeding of a small parcel of land to neighboring New Hope Baptist Church. The celebratory occasion was witnessed by Reverend Stephen Grays and members of his congregation.

“We truly enjoy our partnership with our neighbors at New Hope Baptist Church. As their congregation and church continues to grow, this piece of land can better serve the community as property of the church than of RCISD,” said Superintendent Kevin Worthy. “The work of Pastor Grays to benefit the community is much appreciated and it was a joyous occasion to see this land deed made possible through our school board.”

The property was deeded to Royse CIty ISD in 2002, but due to the size and location of the property, it serves no educational purposes. The landlocked property is less than ⅙ of an acre on the southeast side New Hope Baptist Church. Pursuant to the Texas Education Code, the Board of Trustees has the authority to sell, donate and/or dispose of real property.
