Board Hires Associate Principal for Summers Middle School
The Royse City Independent School District is pleased to announce that Melissa Harvey has been named associate principal for Bobby Summers Middle School. Mrs. Harvey has 16 years in education including roles as a teacher, coach and most recently assistant principal in Mesquite ISD. She holds a bachelor and master’s degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce and will transition to her new role at Bobby Summers Middle School later this month. The campus will open in August of 2020 serving students in grades 6-8.
“We look forward to the energy and expertise that Mrs. Harvey is going to bring to our district’s newest campus,” said Superintendent Kevin Worthy. “She and Principal Richard Pense will make an incredible team to lead this innovative new school.”
About her new role, Mrs. Harvey said, “My family and I are extremely excited to be a part of Bobby Summers Middle School, as well as the Royse City community. I am incredibly fortunate to be able to work with Mr. Pense. I cannot wait to meet each student in the fall. Go Bulldogs!”
About Bobby Summers Middle School:
Opening in August 2020, this will become Royse City ISD’s second middle school and will serve students in grades 6-8. The campus is located in Fate, Texas on the corner of Hwy 66 and CD Boren Parkway. Architecturally, the school will boast innovative learning spaces, a secure interior courtyard and community friendly athletic spaces. The mascot will be the bulldogs and colors will be black and gold.
